After your Facial Routine makeup application can begin. Most—if not all makeup is considered optional but some more than others. You may not contour but you may colour correct or you may not use bronzer but you may blush or highlight. In any case the order for makeup application is helpful.

Face[]

Prep
Prep sprays, SPF products, etc.

Prime
Primers to smooth and even out skin.

Foundation
To create an all over even facial tone.

Conceal and/or Colour Correct
Extra coverage or correction for specific areas of the face.

Note:

Some practices do Conceal and/or Colour Correct makeup after foundation; while others do it before foundation. Use it before if you are using powder foundation.

Contour
To emphasize or de-emphasize features and flaws of the face.

Note:

Some practices do Contour makeup before foundation; while others do it after foundation. Use it before if you are using cream contouring with a powder foundation.

Blush, Bronzer & Highlighter
To further emphasize, heighten, lift up and/or bring forward cheekbones and other facial features.

Finishing Powder and/or Setting Makeup
Adding glow or anti-shine products, sealing makeup with powders and/or sprays. Alternatively, for sprays you can apply after all makeup is applied as a final step.



Eyes[]

Note:

Some practices do eye makeup after face makeup; while others do eye makeup before face makeup.

Eyebrows
Prime, shape, fill and set.

Eyeshadow
Prime, shading (Crease and Contour), colour (Eyelid) and highlighting (Brow)—with eye type in mind.

Eyeliner
Upper Lash Line, Lower Lash Line and Waterline.

Mascara
Lash Primer and Mascara.



Lips[]

Lipliner
Balance and line the lips.

Lipstick
To add the base colour.

Lip Gloss or Lip Topcoat
To finish or alternatively use instead of Lipliner and Lipstick.
